I want to read about a jillion books this year. Or, I don’t know, 40. I’m finding it a slightly more rewarding endeavor than precious time spent with celebreality 40 best sex tape catfights Bret Michaels humping hookers in the back of a van. SLIGHTLY. Here’s the list so far.

15. The Glass Castle (Jeannette Walls)
14. Einstein Never Used Flashcards: How Our Children Really Learn–and Why They Need to Play More and Memorize Less (Golinkoff and Hirsh-Pasek)
13. Columbine (Dave Cullen)
12. Then We Came To The End (Joshua Ferris)
11. The Brain That Changes Itself: Stories of Personal Triumph From the Frontiers of Brain Science (Norman Doidge)
10. I Was Told There’d Be Cake (Sloane Crosley)
9. The Hour I First Believed (Wally Lamb)
8. Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase For Lincoln’s Killer (James L. Swanson)
7. The Late Talker (Agin, Geng and Nicholl)
6. The Last Lecture (Randy Pausch)
5. Heat: An Amateur’s Adventures as Kitchen Slave, Line Cook, Pasta-Maker, and Apprentice to a Dante-Quoting Butcher in Tuscany (Bill Buford)

Me too! I’ve read about 30 this year so far. Re-reading GREEN MANSIONS (W. H. Hudson) after about 45 years at the moment. Just finished THE PAINTED DRUM (Louise Erdrich) and decided to sandwich GM in before taking up her MASTER BARBERS SINGING CLUB. She’s a fantastic writer if you haven’t read her yet. At least I think so. LOVE LOVE LOVE BOOKS!
